Spending a day on the Camelback Corridor

22 09 2010

It started with the annual 40 Hispanic leaders under 40 awards luncheon early Wednesday afternoon at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. The event is sponsored by Chicanos Por La Causa, a Phoenix non-profit, and was planned by Beto Rodriguez, a good friend of my wife’s who knows how to do these things really well.

Very classy, and it moved fast. The Biltmore is such a swanky place.

Packed house, lots of tables, good food, good keynote, good MC (another friend, local TV anchor Catherine Anaya), and another colleague and friend, Jesse Sanchez, was one of those honored. He’s a national writer for MLB.com.

Later on in the day after I watched the Sounders blow a 2-0 lead to Monterrey on Fox Soccer Channel and lose 3-2, we returned to the area, known as Camelback Corridor because it is the businesses located right off Phoenix’s Camelback Road, for dinner.

We tried a new place, Zinburger, and the gourmet burgers were tasty. I mean, superb. I highly recommend. It’s Restaurant Week so a lot of nice places are offering discounts and special menus.
