Avoiding the Arizona heat

7 06 2010

You just stay inside, and if you have to go somewhere, make sure your car AC works and you don’t have to walk outside much after you park. Definitely not something I’m used to. Sunny days meant Green Lake or a ballgame for me back in Seattle. Different world here.

Busy day for the Romeros today. Went to a barbecue joint called Arizona Barbecue Company. Good bbq turkey sandwich, a lot of food for low price = a good review from me. We also saw “Hot Tub Time Machine.” A laughing good time and we were the only ones at the 5 p.m. show. Only $5.25 per ticket all day Monday-Thursday at AMCs!

Who remembers these guys from the 80s? John Cusack and Crispin Glover, two stars of “Hot Tub.” My favorite Cusack movie is “Better Off Dead,” sorry “Say Anything” fans. He was also good in “Eight Men Out,” and “Grosse Pointe Blank.” And who can forget Glover’s McFly character in “Back to the Future?”

So if you didn’t know, Hall & Oates (speaking of the 80s) has decided to cancel its scheduled show in Phoenix after the baseball game here July 2. Sucks. I have tickets for that game and we were really looking forward to the show, but the soulful duo is taking its stand against SB 1070 so we can’t blame them for that. It still sucks though.

Sing along with me will you?

What about “High Fidelity”? That’s my favorite John Cusack film. Glad to hear you are doing well. I miss Green Lake on sunny days, too. Seattle miss you, homie.
