The view from field level at Chase Field

7 04 2010

If you’ve ever been here, you know that this stadium is immense. The roof is open tonight, the panels above right and left field are open and it’s a perfect night for baseball. Sun is shining, batting practice over for both teams, and the music is blaring over loudspeakers. It’s not that good. But it is great to be here and working.

I already heard from both teams’ managers, the Northwest’s own Bud Black (Longview, WA) of the Padres and A.J. Hinch of the D-backs.

So here’s the scene from the Padres’ dugout.

It's like being at a shopping center. So many ads and signs, but still nice.

UPDATE 6:50 p.m.: The view from my press box seat right before first pitch.
