A busy day of sports in Phoenix

7 04 2010

Tonight I have landed a freelance gig covering the Arizona Diamondbacks against the San Diego Padres from Chase Field in downtown Phoenix. It’s a hustle to pick up gigs without a full-time job, so any chance I get to work, I’m taking it.

Besides, I need as much money as possible for our trip to Italy later this month. First priority for me – When in Rome, do as the Romans do… and go see an AS Roma match! We want to go on April 25.

Anyway, tonight in Phoenix, the NBA Suns host the Spurs and the NHL Coyotes play their last game of the regular season here in nearby Glendale tonight, plus the D-backs game. I have been to both a Suns and Coyotes game already since arriving here in mid-February. Both teams are playoff-bound.

Ok bad backlighting, but that's me at US Airways Arena before Suns-Blazers.

So here we go. More later, but before I sign off, thanks to a good pal, Josh Mayers, who runs the ultra-cool Seattle Sounders FC blog for the Seattle Times, for helping spread the word about my new blog.
